In my second year we have done a number of firsts ,at least since I have been president

Firstly we attended the BCSC conference in some strength with nearly 150 members proving there is such a thing as a free lunch !
We also took a stand in the showcase jointly with BRC which attracted a considerable amount of interest not only because we had some good freebies on offer but also because there was genuine interest from landlords, developers and new members.
We obtained a great deal of feedback which we are collating and I will share some of that with you today.

The PMA QA Mark Audit Programme
The PMA have developed an Audit tool, to be utilised by consultants on our behalf, to Police the adherence by Landlords and Managing Agents to the principles of the RICS Code of Practice for Service Charges in Commercial Properties.

Energy Performance Certificates

Representatives & consultants of various retailers met with the management team at JLL yesterday and discussed the latest set of guidelines (Issued end July 2008) for the implementation of Energy Performance Certificates across retail properties. This was chaired by Catherine Lambert, who sits with the government body writing these guidelines, so we were well advised as to correct thinking on the subject.   read more

The Out of Town Sub-Committee

The PMA Out of Town Sub-Committee is made up of representatives from Retailers who occupy space on Shopping Parks, Retail Parks and solus sites throughout the UK and southern Ireland. Meetings take place on a quarterly basis and the agenda covers a wide variety of issues relevant to retailers in the out of town market.    read more

This group is made up of all the major multiples represented at the PMA and includes many of the consultants representing those who do not employ a specialist direct.   read more

Rent Review Sub-Committee

With the increased difficulty on the High Street, and the credit crunch, there needs to be increased focus on ensuring our members coordinate their efforts on rent reviews.  This will assist in keeping increases to a minimum, as no doubt our membership are under pressure on occupational costs.   read more
